Coordinated IT Strategy
State agencies tasked with holding administrative hearings often have little or no technological solutions for case tracking, processing, or filing. This often leads to inefficient, redundant paper-based processes that waste agency and litigant time and resources. Acquiring and implementing an electronic case management system available to all State agencies that hold hearings is a worthy investment that can not only improve transparency, accountability, and customer service. Under the direction of DHS General Counsel CoreyAnne Gulkewicz, and working with Department of Innovation and Technology staff and hearings unit staff, the Bureau’s IT subcommittee completed comprehensive business requirements for development of an enterprise, case management system. A system meeting these requirements is estimated to save more than $5 million per year when fully implemented and result in vast improvements in operational efficiency.
